TEHRAN (Mehr News Agency)--Director of the Foundation for Preservation and Publication of Sacred Defense Works, brigadier general Ali-Reza Afshar in the pre-speech sermon here on Friday said that the independence of the country and development of the revolution are the two great achievements of sacred defense.

Speaking among the worshippers, he said that among the other blessings of the sacred defense period are the domestic unity and integrity, the characteristic of deterrence during the war (1980-1988 Iran-Iraq war) which is still beneficial to us, self-sufficiency for the armed forces, reconstruction of the army, progress of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), the stabilization of the religious identity of the Islamic system.

Afshar stressed that our mission nowadays is to develop the culture of sacred defense. All organizations and institutions should work together actively in this way, Mehr News Agency reported. He further pointed out, “If the Jihad and culture of martyrdom are two pillars of development, construction and even politics, we can solve the problems of our country.”

He went on to say that the victory of the Islamic revolution was a great event in the region which threatened the interests of the arrogant West and East, notably the United States and the West. The U.S loss of interests in Iran was a small part of it.

The culture of the Islamic Revolution with a new vision on Islam in contemporary world threatened Western interests in all Islamic countries and worldwide.
